Day One

This is Paul "Googenheimer" Ossman and me at the marker noting the southern end of the Appalachian Trail. I met him while I was living in Raleigh through a mutual friend who was also hiking the trail.

I didn't expect to see Goog this day, but he ended up leaving a day before he'd planned. He was one of the last to show up at the shelter. I hiked with or near him most of the time I was on the Trail.
