If there were any slivers of doubt left about whether I'm leaving WLWT in a few weeks, they're gone. My replacement has been hired. She was here for an interview last Wednesday and apparently accepted the job Friday. A few of us had lunch with her and she seems very bright. I think she'll work out very well.

It's getting cold here. There's something about a quiet Sunday morning in the fall when it's just a little too chilly to enjoy being outside. It feels all cozy and stuff. I think it'll be very interesting in a few weeks to leave cold weather here and watch it get warmer and warmer as I head south.

I mentioned packing up my apartment yesterday. I've begun to realize at some point I need to start thinking about packing my backpack. I don't even know if everything will fit. I am taking a slightly larger pack that many travelers so it'd better all fit. It's the same Dana Designs Glacier pack I used on the Appalachian Trail. I still have a few things I need to pick up that'll go in there. I hope to get to an outfitter in Milford, Ohio today for that. Just for fun, here's the list of what I still need to buy...

• Multi-Globe outlet adapter (one little cube that can adapt to almost any outlet)
  
• Multi-volt DC adapter for cd player (to charge batteries at odd voltages)
  
• Rechargeable batteries for cd player if can’t find the ones that came with it
  
• Camera battery charger (Maybe. Would replace the power adapter I have and allow charging the battery outside the camera. This way a power surge won't smoke my camera.)
  
• Some kind of shirt with buttons... nicer than the t-shirts I have now
  
• Socks
  
• Pouch for daypack rain cover
