Those who've been with us from the beginning may recognize this as the "Latest News" area. If you were one of the many fans of the "Latest News" section of the homepage, you should know you'll still be able to turn to this area for the most recent updates on my activities. We like to think of ThereGoesJohn LIVE® as a evolution rather than replacement of "Latest News."

If you're a techno-geek like I seem to have become and want to know exactly how this works, here you go. I discovered that with the exception of North America, virtually every country in the world uses the same cell phone system. Anywhere I go from now on I can use the same phone. I only need to pay a nominal fee to activate a pre-paid account in the countries I want to use it in.

"You'll be constantly updated."
Further, I can send short text messages with the phone that are re-routed into email. This is the heart of ThereGoesJohn LIVE®. The text, or SMS, message I send out arrives at the ThereGoesJohn data center in Texas where powerful supercomputers process the message and post it onto the homepage so you'll be constantly updated.

You should know that ThereGoesJohn LIVE® is not yet integrated into the "Latest Location" data at the top of the homepage. This is scheduled for the yet-to-be-approved Phase 2 of ThereGoesJohn LIVE®. The "Latest Location" information will continue to be updated only when a new journal entry is posted. So be sure you always check ThereGoesJohn LIVE® farther down the page for the very latest.

"Solar storms and laziness."
Also, please keep in mind that interruption of updates will likely occur at times. This can be caused by lack of cellular service, delay in activating my phone in a new country, solar storms and laziness. Keep checking in and you'll get new updates as soon as they're available.

On a personal note, it appears I will be able to receive calls for free... even international calls. The folks on the other side pay for their long distance and I talk gratis. This will be handy for keeping in touch with family and friends when I'm away from the internet.
