"Am I having feelings of impending doom?"

This is the Beach

In My Dreams
Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
Thursday November 21, 2002

Witnessing an asteroid crash into the earth.

Going down with a sinking ship.

These are just a few of the dreams I've had in the last few days. Am I having feelings of impending doom? It would seem so.

But during my waking hours, though, I'm feeling much more confident than I have in the last few weeks. I've finally bought into the idea that I'm as prepared as I can possible be, and I'm only gonna do what I want to do. If I wanna call the whole thing off, that's my decision. Do I have any intention of doing that? No friggin' way. But there's a peace of mind you get in knowing that's just one of many options.

"There's no sign that I'm leaving."
Tomorrow's my last day at work. It's rather surreal. I still don't realize I'm leaving. Since we're in the middle of sweeps, we can't just sit around and talk about my departure. So I keep working on projects... finishing some, starting others. Today I started on a script for a promo that won't be finished till long after I'm gone. The point being that there's no sign that I'm leaving. We just keep on working like nothing's changing. Kind of odd, but that's how sweeps goes.

Tomorrow morning's my appearance on our morning news. That'll be fun. They asked me to bring my backpack and my digital camera. One of our designers and I created a rough map of my trip today, too. So it sounds like it'll be one big show and tell. I gotta walk to the station at like 5:30 am. And it's supposed to be raining and about 35°. I guess I should think of it as a little preview of my trip. If I can't walk a mile in a little cold rain, how do I think I can do the rest of this thing? I'll just don my fleece and my Gore-Tex shell and do it.

"This thing really sucks."
And finally, my CD burner died the other day. I still have one more mp3 cd to create, so I gotta load my mp3's onto a bunch of Zip disks and go burn them at work. I also gotta burn a CD with some applications I may need while I'm away. This thing really sucks. I only bought it like two years ago and it's never worked particularly well. Don't buy a Creative Labs CD/RW drive.
